* The calculator is opened as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and uses macros to produce the charts.

It is therefore necessry to have macros enabled, this can be done by opening Excel and choosing tools from the top menu. From the drop down menu choose macro then security. You will then need to select either a medium or low security level. If Medium is selected then you will have to confirm each time the drug calculator is opened to enable macros otherwise the program will not work. If  low is selected then the program will open without any other intervention needed.

 * Enter the patient's Name, Date of Birth, Unit Number and weight if known, (or if not: calculated weight).

All Fields must be completed

* Click on Print and the calculator will produce a hardcopy of the suggested doses
for a range of bolus drugs and infusions.

 You must have a printer attached

* When closing, click 'No' when asked if you want to save changes
